Explosive FarewellA Poem by Jessica Elaine Stevens [Faiteach]As I leave for boot camp, let the adventure begin
i am searching through linoleum hallways
exploring frosted, smoking coolers; diving up and down shelves, which clink and clatter with the weight of many liquors. i am looking for the perfect bottle of Champagne to launch my ship to sea. i will not sip this farewell, i will not toast this parting, i will not let fizzy drinking water numb my tongue and head to the taste of bittersweet goodbyes. i will SHATTER it against the hull and let the reverberating fragments- the frothy foam and splatters- push me out into open waters. © 2010 Jessica Elaine Stevens [Faiteach] |
