Maiden You Are Foolish

Maiden You Are Foolish

A Poem by Jessica Elaine Stevens [Faiteach]
"

Praying for love and paying in naivete. This one is old too.

"

Am I falling up, or falling down?
Am I losing myself, or losing control?
Am I doing this because I'm brave
or because I'm so very cowardly?
I feel like a piece of glass
crusted over with your fingerprints
your fingerprints
on my skin, I can still feel you
people holding me
I'd so much rather be pristine
I need a clean slate
What I've learned isn't worth living
and learning and moving on
Forgive is a word,
forget is a myth.
Mercy me, mercy mercy someone
Someone have mercy on me,
if I just can't love the way I mean to
say the way I mean to
be the way I mean to

Someone have mercy on me.

Okay then I will have mercy. Maybe I am interpreting this piece wrong, but I get the feeling it is speaking of moving on from a dead-end situation. On the one hand you accept the necessity of it, on the other hand you hate leaving/hurting anyone. You hurt. You need someone to talk to without being judgmental. you find solace in pen and paper. Not sure if this was from a fictional standpoint, or real....but you got mercy anyway.

Good writing. Thanks for sharing this.

I just loved this , I loved the repeat of Mercy me..not alot of people use that word and it is very poetic..this whole poem was written in a style that is so confessional and open and real and I really liked it... it works so well
