It Won't Eat You If You Don't Look Tempting

It Won't Eat You If You Don't Look Tempting

A Poem by Jessica Elaine Stevens [Faiteach]

And now all I'm left to go to bed with is my disappointment.
I think I've lost my way-
A sifting crack-
In the Continent of Me.
I feel the upheaval underground
as the landscape of my life
changes epically.
You are a violent chaotic force
Of my existence.
I can't speak in tongues,
Why can't you just talk to me?
I'd like to tell you everything at once;
Give you a dialogue
of the meaning of my life.
Open your textbooks
let me guide you through, chapter two.
But you are the class clown.
And I, the helpless professor
cannot teach you if you don't want to learn.
My life is a Monday Morning Hangover:
My Own Damn Fault
but worth the pain, just to tell stories after hours.
I dig deep for meaning.
You float on the surface-
while I circle anxiously beneath.
My thoughts drift up to you
but are meaningless in the sunshine of your scrutiny.
Though my words burst by your ears
you cannot hear me.
Does it make you nervous
to see my shadow ever circling below?
Or does my pale disguise
shield your eyes
from the teeth beneath my lips?
When I touch you the message is clear
But you're not here
Just when I need you
Like all the other fish in the sea,
you find a reason to disappear.
I suppose that makes sense.
I started on land-
Cracking at the seams-
I fell into the sea
and who could ever learn to love
A Pale White monster like me?
