I Wrote You A Song, BabyA Poem by Jessica Elaine Stevens [Faiteach]Never sing to a poet. She'll eat all your music and try to give birth to something better. Comes out crappy.you played me a song you said you wrote with no one in mind A Love Song you were willing to put my name on- I wonder now (in retrospect) how many other girls much simpler than I you played it to (I suspect) to sway them to your bedside. In turn I've dedicated my pen to your face and so many of my poems I wrote with you in mind- Because "I'm no Picasso but you inspire me..."
An empty dedication at the forefront of a mangy book I may choose to burn someday a symbolic destruction of a love that burned us both- and I will use these ashes to blacken my face set out into this wasteland in camouflage a militant broken heart a crewcut femme fatale I will sneak into your room and destroy your precious guitar so that every morning you will wake to bits of wood and wire, as I wake every morning to the broken dreams of you and me.
This is not a masterwork of poetry this is a stupid break up sonnet This is not a masterpiece This is a niave good-bye song because "I'm no Vangogh but, you inspire me...." © 2010 Jessica Elaine Stevens [Faiteach]Author's Note
