The Universe is Trying to Tell You Something

The Universe is Trying to Tell You Something

A Poem by Jessica Elaine Stevens [Faiteach]
"

Better get a hold of that Rosetta Stone.

"

 The world went Mad today.

People were running naked through the streets,

Performers were dancing in subway cars,

passing hats for cash-

I spun dizzy

out-of-kilter

ordered a donut-

got a muffin instead.

Woke up late-

got to work early.

Bought a book-

and read it upside down,

while I waited

assassin-like,

for you to come home.

A smile, a tiny wave,

I almost let you get away.

I stopped you with a touch

(The first touch in months)

and asked for a

Reconciliatory Lunch Date.

And on my way home,

there were people running

naked through the streets

and street performers on the train

and i caught the bus on time

and my shoe came untied,

ten steps from my front door-

I thought my world was out-of-sorts

without you

but I think, I think

I was wrong-

Because you said yes, and the world

went Mad-

No really, I stepped out of work into a throng of streakers and then there were street performers on the subway, in the train, dancing on the poles. Weird day.

Peach,

I like this kind of poetry, so real and alive, no pretentions. A lot of emotion coming through this one. I knew what you were talking about without you telling me.

good poem,
Billy the Kid
