Tell The Truth Love, You're Nothing But A LiarA Poem by Jessica Elaine Stevens [Faiteach]Some people pretend to be something that is more than who they are. Later, when you've slept beside each other night after night, you find yourself waking up one morning next to a total stranger.I would rather live in my nightmares, than my dreams- at least nightmares tell the truth. You were a dream I had once. I never let myself believe in you, and now I've seen past the soft, liquid flesh of your lies to the twisted ugly bones of your truths. The funny thing is, had you come to me- a Skeleton fresh out of your closet- I might have been more delighted. But as it is, it's the lying that gets me. I've never pretended to be anything but Myself to you. I should have known better, when I smelled the rank, rotting, Bullshit you had chosen to hide yourself with; a noxiously sweet concotion of sugar-coated words and chocolate caresses. It's my fault really, I have such a sweet tooth and I was willing to believe that the Shape of what I saw was the Shape you really are. Too late now, I'm left drilling out a root canal, your infection hit my blood stream, and my heart is beating slower. It's time for me to take stock de-tox It's time for a recover-y So I'm leaving you, convince you that you're leaving me, and someday none of this will matter. © 2010 Jessica Elaine Stevens [Faiteach] |
