The Cat

The Cat

A Poem by Jessica Elaine Stevens [Faiteach]
"

When will quantum superposition end and one reality collapse into the other?

"
I am sitting here
in the dark
smoking a cigarette
thinking about how
you don't love me yet
Enough to keep me,
never leave me

I am Schrödinger's cat
I exist in your reality and mine
both dead and alive
and I cannot tell
which of us is killing me

Night vision does nothing here
in this consuming black
the terrible Future, unknown
Eigengrau
I see only shades of grey
with such a lack of contrast
between right and wrong
I cannot distinguish the way
forward, versus the way
back.

I'm not really sure when quantum superposition and one reality will collapse together. What I do not is this poem is awesome. My favorite stanza was the second one because the Schrödinger's cat metaphor was brilliant. It took the concept that you built in the first stanza and elevated it to a whole new level of emotional complexity. That was brilliant.
