The Room

The Room

A Poem by Britt Worth

How much longer can I walk this road alone?

You told me you would follow, but I guess I should’ve known

You were only there to push me, deep in a locked room

Only filled with flames and an unavoidable noose.

I didn’t mean to start this

I didn’t mean to care

But what else is there to do

When your heart is barely there?

So, I stop pounding on the walls

Pleading with my God

That maybe, just maybe,

This is just going all wrong.

The flames climb higher

But I scream to God for proof

That maybe love is real

Maybe it is true

But the fire licks at my flesh

And I curse God from within

With no one left to save me

I commit my last sin.

I know love can be overwhelming
And i can relate to your feelings
But often all the love one can need
Is sent by god through so many people
And maybe the one person that refused to give it
Was a saving act for you
Maybe you deserve more :)
