The Ocean Never Learned to SwimA Poem by Destiny_BrownWhen the ocean cries, the river tells it to shut up The wind can’t be bothered by the likes of the poor wretch It’s funny, cry me a river they all say I guess it’s cuz the river can’t intentionally kill That poor poor ocean so simple yet so misunderstood So small yet so large, so old yet so young It swallows the world and asks for sympathy in return Carries the fish and the heart of the sea Those beaches don’t know me They’re so smug and so vain A distant seagull laughs at my shore And then screams in horror at my
murderous wave. All In One Breath I really don’t understand it at all I feel the pain of those that did fall Oh, but please forgive me everyone You must do so after all I’ve overcome Lacking the shark’s malice or the beauty of the angelfish The universe curses me as I try to grant every wish Who in place should I kiss and then drown to hide my sorrow? By the way did you feel my wrath in the conch you did borrow? I’m just the ocean. Nothing more nothing less. I know that I’m imperfect but your thoughts will digress Don’t you see that hatred and love are of the same side But only in thought will your hate and my love both reside © 2017 Destiny_BrownFeatured Review
