Treasure Chest

Treasure Chest

A Poem by Decere Tiozon
"

I want to get to know you, but will you show me your treasure chest?

"

Always test the waters before jumping in

Monsters may lurk, prey and pounce

Regretting your choices would be a sin

With tainted blood, diluting in every ounce

What happens if I plunged without thinking?

If I did what I felt was right?

I have these nagging thoughts and feelings

Would you willingly expose, or would you fight?

At the bottom of this ocean is your treasure chest

I could be the pirate, a diver or an adventurer

Would I become a burglar, or would I become a guest?

Debri of doubts make me so unsure

The longer I swim, the more I get lost

This vast ocean is making me sick and way too exhausted

My journey I question, along with its cost

You’re hiding from me, my dear; I know you’re afraid

One who is lost may not want to be found

So I’ll just keep on swimming, no matter how much it may hurt

Someday I’ll hear the sound,

Of your sleeping soul and your golden heart
