The Green Monster

The Green Monster

A Poem by Decere Tiozon
"

Envy, Jealousy, of a friend or foe. The Green Monster is whispering misgivings in my ear.

"

The Green Monster

You sway your hips back and forth

Your charismatic bob of your head could send shivers all around

You’re tantalizing eyebrow would raise on que

How can you make me feel as if I lack value or worth?

You’re a prima donna princess

Flocks of desperate flamingoes would cower at your voice

But they follow you all around, like Mary and her little lamb

You give each willing man a chance to impress

This little green monster is whispering misgivings in my ear

You are a friend, and yet a foe

I pity you so, although,

You could undoubtedly make me shrill with agonizing fear

All you think about is how you’ll catch your next fish

All I worry about is how unhealthy this is

You’re so boy-crazy, but there’s no way to stop you

To have you realize the dangers of this deep, blue pool is my only wish

I don’t want to get all caught up in your schemes

I want to control my plane with ease

But I am roused by your capabilities

You surely know how to travel as you please

But life isn’t all about boys

I hope you know that

Sometimes I wonder who’s truly the lucky one

Comparing the immense gap of differences of our wondrous toys
