A Poem by DH

i've lived my life
my time is through
this is my choice
it's not up to you

grant me this
my final request
take my pain
put me to rest

cry with me child
i know that you're sad
but i've seen the light
and it isn't half bad

talk to me, son
come sit with me
by letting me go
you're setting me free

OH YES, i'm afraid
but i've managed to cope
that's a big part of life
you've learned this, i hope

promise me son
when your time draws near
you'll remember the things
i'm telling you here

live a just life
follow God's plan
and when Death's at your doorstep
look him straight in the eye
you've made me proud

Your flow and rhythm is impeccable. The strength with which you wrote this pushed it along with a sort of pride of a life well-lived. Everyone does have their time to go, that much is true. But the circumstances for that death ought not be in their hands, they should be granted a death where they can proudly face death without fear, trying to daunt the inevitable with a glare as cold as space itself. This was well-written.

This has such a wonderful flow to it
I like what you have written as well

follow God's plan
and when Death's at your doorstep
look him straight in the eye
you've made me proud

Such truthful words here
I like this alot.

I like how this flows. Everyone has their time to leave, all we need to learn is to make the best of our life and to follow God's plan, as you put it, and to accept death when it comes.
