My Vacation

My Vacation

A Poem by Julie Deshtor
"

In response to Assender's prompt

"

I am so lonely in this pretty world

of the greenest pines, white shapes in the sky,

lively, lit-up streets

and the tiny moon

of the balcony lamp...

Savoring cigarettes,

talking to your shadow (so far away) in the empty chair.

Wishing you were there.

(Laughing, getting drunk, running to the beach

in the golden sun.

All of it - together…)

…eating Coca Pebbles from a measuring cup,

wishing I was you.  Making bed for two.

Telling the fake  moon: “I will be home soon.”

Really old poem, as you can see from the date. Take it with a grain of salt. *smiles*

I liked the way this moved into rhyme at the end. The imagery didn't appeal to me at first and then I liked it a lot. Not sure if two moon references work though. Would also prefer a comma after chair- I don't like sentences that aren't really sentences wishing and laughing would look better with lower case and talking (same format) is already lower case. Infact making and telling might look better lower case too. Where are the ghosts you promised lol I like ghosts!
