less like flying (song lyrics)

less like flying (song lyrics)

A Poem by big darn hero
"

a song about my childhood parties and love.

"

 i know for a minute i woke

woke up on reading avenue

where we were younger

we were honest

it was a big day

it was the night of

one of my parties

we'd watch a movie

order some food

maybe play some games

and fight over chairs

we spoke late last night

about everything we'd do

(this time)

because this time

would be the best time

the best time

this time

you said this would be so much fun

you said this could be too much fun

there's still words you wrote

secrets shared, papers crumbled

burned into our eyes

only for our eyes

only for us

but now it's some years later

and i have to admit

it's never quite the same

knowing you won't be coming this time

it's not quite the best time

this time

and i have to admit

it's never quite the same

knowing you won't be coming

this time, this year, this time

this time waking up feels

a little less

like flying

this time waking up

feels a little less

like flying

Thanks Legion, I actually modified it a bit as I played through it. I'm a bit too... bad of a singer to record myself playing/singing but I've reworked it as per your advice - also wanted to shorten it a bit and get rid of redundant exposition.

The structure is a bit odd for lyrics to a song, but then again I would have to hear the music to officially believe that. As for the message/story, I like it. Very sad in the end and has that "you just can't go home again" kind of feel to it. Well done. Bravo.
