Chapter 5: Deal or no dealA Chapter by dahamstaDetermined to fight on, Alex returns to school. All Alex could think off as he was proceeding home was about Jerrid. If only he could have stopped Melinda before she killed him. "I will not let this happen again!", Alex decided. When he returned home, which was in a high-class apartment complex, he proceeded to go to sleep since he could barely stay awake. The next day came. Alex got up just like always - way too late. After he took a shower and ate a sandwhich, combed his hair and went back to school. Also, as usual, he couldn't stay awake during the first lesson. However there were two differences. First off, the seat next to him was permanently empty, so Alex didn't have anyone to talk to. Second - nobody really bothered to wake him up or be pissed off at the fact that he was dozing off. It almost seemed surreal in that sense. Alex even noticed the teacher, which never showed any qualms of taking him to the principal, looking at him and making sure that she speeks quietly enough so Alex can sleep. That wierded Alex out even more so he decided to find out what was going on during the break. "What the hell is going on?", asked Alex. The teacher looked really surprised and said, "We know what you have been through. You should have just stayed home for today anyway." Alex finally understood what everyone was on about and, since he had no reason not to use this chance to sleep properly. So he slept throughout the rest of the day. Then as the final lesson was coming to a close, teacher asked Alex to go to the principal's office. All Alex thought was, "Back at it again.", still he slightly smiled. It was just too wierd for him to be so priorized over everyone else that he deep within wanted it to stop anyway. Even at the cost of sleep. He arrived at the principal's office. The principal looked different from usual as well - the sarcastic grin had been replaced by sorrowful brown eyes. Margaret said, "I know it is hard to talk about what happened yesterday, but what was that thing that actually killed Jerrid?" "That thing was Melinda, although calling her a thing is probably slightly insulting.", sarcastically answered Alex. "Even if it was done by Melinda, what was that thing?" Margaret asked. "Honestly I have no idea, however why are you asking me all of this? If anything just try and forget about it. It's not worth remembering." "What are you saying? Like anyone can forget about something like this!", the principal shouted in a shrill voice. "If you are done flipping out, can I go home?", asked Alex. "Don't you care about what happened to Jerrid!?", Margaret shouted. "Caring won't ressurect him. It's easier to just forget and keep going.", Alex answered and left. On the way home he got a phone call on his cell and answered. It was a familiar voice. "How have you been Alex?" "Just like I thought, this isn't over yet, am I right Crimson?", Alex answered. "Well you have stirred quite the bee hive my good man. You do know that they are afraid to die too, right? If you want those around you to live-" "I will have to kill the rest of those leftovers. I know.", Alex answered. "Well then I will help you out as well. If you are willing to defeat all the shadows that are going to try coming for you from this point on, then I shall direct you to them from this point on. Deal or no deal?", Crimson said and laughed. "Deal, however just one question, what do you stand to gain from this?" "Nothing much. By the way nice try not to get that girl involved.", Crimson laughed again and the call cut out. "What a mess, eh Jerrid?", Alex thought to himself and then kept on going home.
