Torch & Pitchfork GirlA Poem by Derek St JamesPoem Lyrics Words & That
"Torch & Pitchfork Girl"
Too often you compare me to a narcissist with city blues Dimming lights 'n' macabre moods got hues infusin' with the gloom Spotlights never shine on you conductin' vampire interviews I see your blood stained kisses but I'm known to slit a wrist or two Maybe pop a pill or few then drink em' down with holy water Sinkin' fast to a rocky bottom that looks alot like Sodom 'n' Gohmorra Rainin' brimstone on a sea of torches Claimin' this whole empires yours to toy with Good ol' boys show with swords 'n' pitchforks with more short circuits than a broken switch board Pourin' out the venom to avoid droppin' the b***h word Which word is worse to a witch who ain't hurt by curse words This verse will hit first Darlin' keep defenses up Both feet deep beneath the mud You clench your fists 'n' eat the dust quick enough Wishin' I was not so damn good at givin' up Pricked the arm 'n' didn't feel a rush Didn't hit a line Didn't get the push Never is enough Couldn't give a f**k less if I was seventeen chasin' dreams 'n' sunsets If I've ever been clean it was brief 'n' sudden It's no more runnin' just to glimpse what love is Worlds filled up with these imps 'n' puppets Everyone got a master they're scared to f**k with One wants a sunray to stay warm under it Another wants a storm 'n' they wait for thunderin' Lightnin' strikes 'n' the f****n' shudders break It might be right if you let me suffocate Pirates life 'n' a treasure of mistakes are frightening sights when the pleasure fades © 2019 Derek St James |
