"Gravel Roots"
You can find me outta home with an attitude 'n' a cracked phone Some dad issues 'n' a habit formed from a savage youth 'n' a backbone My gravel roots form a platform so the hard knocks are my anthem 'n' the hardcore is my life force That ghostly figures my phantom Why do cries remain unanswered Why am I so unromantic Hide the signs underneath the mattress 'n' bury crimes deeper in the attic Scary times 'n' a rusty razor in a boarded up bathroom none the safer Ignorin' horrors just to face em' later when its unexpected It's how I embrace em' Takin' teeth just to make a bracelet from fractured smiles to appease the hatred After while I started feelin' vacant It's like Bates Motel without a room to stay in Dr. Doom recruitin' newer patients with fewer alements to be saved from Two bodies Two bullets sprayed from the same gun Slideshows of dead folk play when the days done Prayin' with this lame tongue hangin' to a weak chin Chained to a smart mouth caged in an aged skin Some praise my art form for slayin' the dragon but still whisper statements 'n' call me a f****t Bet if I was they'd find me out here braggin' 'n' still hate me for gettin' more dick than they get Either way I'm catchin' s**t that they pitch 'n' hand them a shovel they can dig their graves with No headstone just a plot to lay in in a foggy cemetery Which spots your favorite Smell of decay leakin' out from the pavement when hell makes it's way up the stairs from the basement © 2019 Derek St James |
