I'd Love To

I'd Love To

A Poem by Derek Nall

I’d love to lie between the lines of your favorite book, stargazing into your eyes…mesmerized…
Memorizing all your favorite lines, trying to buy some time before you turn the page.
With you I’ll always take what I can get
And oh how I'd love to live inside those coffee sip lipstick imprints
Just to remember what it’s like to kiss your lips again

I just want to be in your heart, like a nickel that still shines in the dark
And in your mind, the penny to your thoughts
The butterflies in your stomach that can untie all the knots
I'd love to...

I’d love to be the breath you take at the very end of the longest day, just take away some sorrow
And I’d love to paint a picture of a smile on your face tomorrow…
Just take your breath away…more breath then every breath it takes of every kid blowing out their birthday cake

I'd love to…
Swim in your soul, pour me a bowl of your thoughts, let me stroll…
Id love to unroll the scrolls of your heart just to try to understand what you’re going through.
I’d really love to…

You got me spinning on a carousel and I'm spinning so damn fast, that’s a fact
Giving me anxiety attacks from just a little eye contact…I need to sit
Just to think about your hand and how I'd love to run away with it…
And your smile is like the first aid kit I need when my heart wants to bleed the worst
And your voice
How it makes my ribs protest my hearts request to just burst
I'd love to...
