Fellows of Fortune

Fellows of Fortune

A Poem by Deon Visser
"

Luck, fortune or fate. What we all do when we need the sun to shine brighter.

"

Turn the corner

Click the heel

Flick the lash

Find the clover

Throw the plate

Spill the salt

Sweep the house

 Left then right,

Skip the ladders

Blow the candles

Pick the pennies

Cross the fingers

Crack the cookie,

and

Wish upon a star.

When all manners,

Of fate and, motions

Of fortune, are observed,

And duly doted,

may Lady luck,

Love me lasciviously,

may Sir sorrow,

mind me abjectly,

may Miss mayhem,

Dither and wither

And find counsel

with Count Chaos

much more measurable,

than haunting my;

Present, or

Steeping my past, or

Flipping my future,

With tempestuous thrills

Or contemptuous criticisms

Mired in morose

Mistakes, and leaps

Of faith,

Yet

Untaken.

May the fellows of fortune,

Smile,

Bravely,

On my future,

And

my

Fate.

About
I just came off of a writing hiatus that dawned over me for no reason. I won't say it was writer's block, more, that I didn't need to write for the past year. I spent a year in Thailand, and the land .. more..
