Autumn's fallA Poem by Deon VisserSpending a year in a country with no real weather changes except; summer and summer-with-rain, inspired this poem, a fact which only dawned upon me when infinite summer ended as I left.Hither and
thither the mild wind woes, slowly
caressing your precious throws, leaves of Autumn
scuttle on air, creep and
crawl, once fallen, if dared, Summer
turns hazy in Hazel and Oak, browner
than branch bass scattered and broke.
Seasonal
shifts reveal Fall to fuss, over twigs,
trunks and trees, in
evergreen, distrust.
Wither and
weather stems start to stall, stomata and
sunshine pine away all, crisply cut
quarters of what once stood fair, winds weep
in darkened discoloured air, naked not
nurtured tree-fellow sprawls, gray gloomy
scratches on heaven’s walls.
Shifting of
season signals the fall, of titan
and tree trunk and the timbered tall.
In scarleted
carpet and flamed drapery lies, the promise
of tree-kin’s, deciduous, disguise. © 2014 Deon Visser |
