Protecting Her

Protecting Her

A Poem by Deo

I've let it slide.
Let men hurt her.
While I know.
Deep in my gut.
He's going to turn sour.
I keep my mouth shut.
Because for a time.
She's happy.
And that's the way I want to see her.
But you.
Your different.
For once.
Since it was me in your place.
I have the feeling.
You will treat her well.
Don't prove me wrong.
I'm tired of seeing this happen to her.
Be the one to change her mind.
I trust you too.

What I feel is a lover who broke up with his girl due to circumstances and not by choice. "since it was me in your place," suggests that the person was with the girl and now he is not with her any more. But, he desperately desires that the person with her should treat her the same way he treated her. He can't see her getting hurt. Yeah, but I read the previous comment, and now know that it was a brother and sister relationship. I had to say what I felt. Beautiful piece.

You're welcome :)
I read a song about a father's wish for a daughter. Don't know if that's what was intended, but that's what spoke out to me. The desire for another's love to be respected and honored and the emotional involvement that maybe a father has in his daughter's well being.

In whatever case, it is touching piece.

That's close to it. Brother and sister. But thank you.
