Is There Someone There

Is There Someone There

A Poem by Dennis Willis

Is there someone there
to thump against
to bump against
to hump against
in this poetic
somekindofcourse if not
innercourse

are you there you
oscillating mind
of (usually) misery
slapping on makeup
to seem beautiful
whilst dying loudly
and artfully sound

if so, keep in mind
i am wrecking plates
of personal history
and pulling together
now as if the universe
needed a drink and was
broke sitting next to me
morose and alone pulling

this is not over my head
this is my head over itself
writing about its surrender
to a sharp sound emitted
by your beautiful self
I'm that shallow and I'm
in love with my shallowness
