Requiem for My Soul

Requiem for My Soul

A Poem by denise
"

"the process of going through a dark time in life- and being lucky enough to survive it"

"
It feels like so long ago
The days were filled with hope
The promise of an endless journey
Now nothing left to show

You pushed me far beyond the pale
A place I never thought I'd see
The shade rolled in like waves of darkness
Its fury meant for me

The writing on the wall was clear
I had to find my way
The pain would stay forever
Unless I saw a brand new day

Through years of desperation
The light was dimming on my soul
Somehow- my heart's flame stayed burning
And made sure I did not fall

....about a dark place in my life. we all go through a time that we think we won't survive. if our will is strong enough though, we can overcome anything! some events are too personal to share all the details, but I hope you get the basic idea!

this was beautiful, and i think it's alright that you didn't include events that were too personal. the first lines captured my attention and the last lines left me yearning for more! thank you for the lovely read.

( ps: 'it's fury meant for me' is probably meant to be 'its fury meant for me' )

Beautifully penned. Life’s journey so often seems to be on the verge of overwhelming us. It’s not easy finding that “heart’s flame” to keep light the way for our soul, but once found, no one can dim the light of our soul.

I know this pain so well. I love your writing style so far. Keep it coming! I agree, these pains only make us stronger if we have the will to persevere. Writing is healing.

You're quite welcome! Happy New Year to you as well, felow poet.
It is good that you weren't too specific about personal experiences. In this way, anyone can relate, because one time or another, every one of us felt so high with one person who pushed us to a fall later on. But we managed to get up and keep on going further! That was well said! The last stanza is especially powerful.
