Life is a Pen

Life is a Pen

A Poem by Denise
"

Relationships suck, but losing one sucks even more

"

You were once a mystery

Now you are only history

If I could rewrite my past

It wouldn't be in pen

I'd erase you

Like the mistake that you are

I wouldn't have let it gone this far

Each kiss, touch and promise

Would cease to exist

You would be the man I glance at

And you would be the man I resist

Yesterday would be filled with happy stories

Not your stories

Today I would be at peace

Not in pieces

And tomorrow would look bright

Because you were never in my life

But life is not a number 2 pencil

Mistakes can't be swiped away by eraser

You were once there

And now I shall pay for it

You taught me a lesson worth learning

When you meet a man that seems great

Stop, walk away - he is not worth yearning

Don't give away your whole heart

Or you just may lose it all

Lock it up tight for safe keeping

Because there is a price to pay

When a man comes your way

Making promises he never meant keeping

felt like the snap of a too sharpened lead point

still should one sacrifice the future because of the past ?

Your words strike deep... and carry such a powerful message... Yes.. love can be filled with intense pain... can wound and cut leaving marks that can never be erased.. only faded in sunlight's exposure. What an intense poetic expression.
