The Magic in My world

"
There are all kinds of magic. In most of the other books it is described as something grand, only a selected number of people can achieve. And in order to do that, it usually puts a lot of strain on the mind and body. That results in exhaustion, which supposedly leads to death, if one is not careful. Grand achievements in the sphere of magic also often require preparations, such as- symbols, incantations, manuscripts, candles, stored energy or a combination of the above.
Well, my world is different. Here everybody could learn magic. It is a part of the everyday life. Of course some people could learn better than others. It all depends on the attitude of the individual. Like most of the other books, magic here, contains elements. Air, earth, water, fire and spirit. Every one of which has its pros and cons.
There are 4 grades of wizards. Apprentice, Advanced , Master and Chosen.
Apprentices would be the ones, which are in the beginning of their learning. They are prohibited from practice. Only theory. Apprentices also have to study geography, science, medicine, herbalism etc.

Advanced wizards would be the ones who have learned the basics, and can do small to advanced magic. They are allowed to practice, but only with supervision. Another thing is that those wizards, would normally chose 1 or 2 subjects in which they would specialize.

A Master wizard would be able to use magic with grace and mastery. Some of them are only specialized in 1 or 2 elements, with basic knowledge of the other elements, but there are the so called 'all around wizards' which have studied every aspect of each of the elements. Those who are 'all around' rarely get chosen.

Chosen wizards. The name is not randomly chosen. They are called special for a reason. When a wizard has exceptional character and ability, an element would choose him. Every grade of wizard could be chosen. The choosing occurs differently for each element.
Air chooses personalities which tend to argue less, and observe other points of view. They rarely, if ever, argue.

Water chooses those, who easily adjust to the situation at hand. They mostly live day-by-day without consideration of the future.

Earth chooses mostly silent and caring types. They usually tend to others, without consideration of their own health.

Fire chooses impulsive characters, who act how they feel. Most of them are arrogant and reckless.

I should probably point out, that different races have an affinity towards different elements. The only species, which have an affinity to all the elements(or rather- they don't have an affinity to any element), would be the humans.

After reading all that, you are now ready to enter My World.
