Seared In White Oak

Seared In White Oak

A Poem by demureminds

Seared in white oak

were the names of the lost

and hungry to be found,

aching with fevered claws,

their alias

scribed in to proscribe

their presence,

and they were lost

forever.

Reminds me of graves said to be dug back in the olden days of Earth, where there wasn't an inklet left of time (nor resources) to forge stone gravestones, so they carved names on wood instead. Only to be bulldozed by humanity (perhaps the very same faces you see every day) and paved to create rising structures on the dust of our ancestors.
