PhotographsA Poem by demuremindsPhotographs, their faces gleaming, Woman, Man, Girl, Boy, pausing their day, for a moment, for a photograph, 40 years ago.
Today, the woman, she is withered, she takes many medications to alleviate many pains because she is no longer jovial, gleaming her white teeth. She has dentures now.
The man, he passed one year ago, his second wife and him, spent 30 happy years beneath oak trees overlooking a deep blue abyss. He wore a rented suit at burial.
The girl, she grew up too, at sixteen, she fell in love and ran away from home and never saw her family again. She had a baby boy, and named him after a star at that time. And then, her lover left her.
The boy, he became an average man; he worked for a computer software company, got his degree at a nice university. He married, had two kids, but his wife fell victim to infidelity. And now they are filing papers.
Photographs, they tell stories, words as pictures, but they don’t know it all either. © 2012 demureminds |
