Overused

Overused

A Poem by demureminds

Cliches reigned

timidly

through time,

sipped

by lips

so graciously,

but now they creep

ferociously

past due

and overused.

I love you’s

and

I thank you’s

used to mean something too,

too bad they warped

mirrors into

expectations,

now overused.

Bodies once rose

so gracefully,

strong souls,

rays abeam,

but as time

seeped,

they shriveled,

and faded,

too overused.

I used to be

much kinder,

often,

I was a muse.

One day

I was so drained,

for I was overused.
