OverlookedA Poem by demuremindsThe feeling you get at the end of the day, when you are tired, accomplished, lonely, sad and happy, all at the same time. When you are at ease with yourself finally. When you lie in bed, right before you drift to your groggy paradise, and you look through your life as if it were a secret diary that you’ve forgotten about, the one you lost the key to so many years ago. Well when you peer in all the way from the beginning and you read each page feeling every sensory detail at your fingertips, living it all over again, just like you did the first time. When you see faces on those pages, the ones you’ve forgotten about, and they are smiling at you.
And all those times you caught the glances of a stranger, meeting eyes, for the first time, the way your heart was first shocked, then pulled into overdrive, then slowing to forty-five. The way most of the time you part ways with that stranger and those few seconds marked your love story. The way at that moment, you felt noticed. The way you felt like there was a little bit of every part of you revealed to that stranger. That, is the feeling most frequently overlooked. © 2012 demuremindsReviews
