I Miss and Love You

I Miss and Love You

A Poem by D. L. Hutson
"

In memory of my aunt that passed away this past Sunday.

"

Sometimes it doesn’t even feel real.

It’s like a dream that you want to awake from

but you know that you’re awake

Even though you feel numb.

You can’t make it go away.

The feeling comes all so suddenly

Sometimes it hits in waves

I’m smiling and laughing

But then I remember

I see her lying there

Looking so peaceful

Like she’s asleep

And I’m holding her hand

But then I see that sheet

Cover her head

And it all comes back to me

Another wave

Mind throbbing…

Heart aching…

Tears falling…

Cause I remember

she’s not here anymore

But I know she’s with her family

And I know She’s with the Lord

I know She’s at peace

And she’s receiving her reward

I know she’ll Never to hurt or suffer again

And even though she’s gone

I know She’s still praying for all of us

For her family.

For some of us to get on the right path

And for Some of us to stay

For Some of us to carry on

Where she left off

And help each other along the way.

Some of us to know that

Just because she’s not here

Doesn’t mean that she’s gone

For She’ll always be in our hearts

This is not the end, she’s just moved on.

I pray I live the life that takes me there

In the presence of my father God and hers

And When I close my eyes and dream of home

The very thought, makes my soul stir.

You know they say it takes a village to raise a kid

Well She was part of the village that helped raise me

I know she was one who lived life

And did not let life live her

Though she was not perfect

She was Good-

Because she knew the Lord and He knew her

And His life shone through and showed us Him

Though some memories eventually may fade and be a blur

I know she can never return to be with us

But we can all choose the life she chose and go to be with her.

I'm very sorry to know about your aunt!
But really, it's such a nice tribute...
Very beautifully written and it is somehow very sad and full of remorse feel :(
But indeed, it's such an awesome tribute!
Great write indeed! :)

What a beautiful and heart felt tribute to your aunt and obviously what a blessing she was to you and to your family. I am so happy she knew the Lord. What a difference it makes to know they are in a better place. We hurt for the emptiness of them not being here any more though...I felt like that losing my mom, dad, and grandmother.

12th line up, change sour to soul, hon. That's the only typo that stuck out. Beautifully written, and I am sure your aunt would be touched by such a beautiful tribute. :-) My prayers are with you hon. :-)
