I thought I Knew It All

I thought I Knew It All

A Poem by D. L. Hutson

When I was young and naive
There were things I didn''t believe.
I thought you never understood
I guess because of your adulthood.
I forgot that you were young too
And all the problems I had, the answers you knew.
I didn''t know that you were so wise and smart
And every lecture came from the heart.
I thank you that now I understand
You were always there with your loving, guiding hand.
Thank you for being there
And always making me aware.
Now I see the mistakes I made
And for any other parents, I wouldn''t trade.
