These Walls

These Walls

A Poem by D. L. Hutson

These walls that surround me

These walls that keep me

These walls that comfort me

     they are not my friend

These walls are familiar

These walls are constant

These walls never leave me

these walls are not my friend

These walls never, never leave me

These walls never, never not know me

These walls never, never not see me

When I'm lonely, depressed, or sad

They are my constant companion

but they are not my friend.

I *do* know what you mean, friend. Very eloquently said.

It's been quite a while since I have visited but it is very good to see you again. xx
