PresenceA Poem by Kyle A. Smith
Presence From my mind I cast out to thee, A banishment, a proposal, a decree. From the Mounts pass, A burden, a call, a venture, To witness and surpass. All the creatures’ claw With fright and appeal There she stood so beautiful And all I did, I ever saw. Many ago, and the orbs with it, This was, this was. A burden, than crack; How could this be? I was so careful to where I sit. The chair becomes fell, I, as one, drop as well. To dust, to earth, to shell. I was just another apart of her spell. She held the golden bell, And I, and my resting, fell back to hell. Defeat shall be the gift, Honor misplaced, nor to be swift. Retrieval of such a life seems to drift, And all but my thoughts it seemed to lift. Each memory, the sand I had to sift, And now, terror rears an ugly rift. The beach mounts higher and is one. I looked above since I had none. Bring me home, bring me home son, I said unto the sun. Glory, I asked of, but tears shed just begun. That’s it. I’m done. (With a look back, with a look back. I am made undone By an unworthy gaze Of this fair goddess.) © 2008 Kyle A. Smith |
