Cutting Edge

Cutting Edge

A Poem by dementedreality

While I see the world as it is, I've learned to keep my blade sheathed
The words cut too deep
Even in the mirror they don't see themselves as they are
So lost they are
A blade of light allows them to see through the darkness they cast
They shy away
Why does it hurt so much to see themselves as the play pretend
Hiding from the light
I can't stand to watch them drowned in a self-imposed darkness
I cut out ribbons of light
So they run with all their might for fear of the sight
I sheath my sword
Sometimes I will unleash my words should they ask
Quickly they learn
The don't wish to see what they look like to me
Drowning in the pool
What a beautiful backstroke I have for you to see
Please compliment me
