Pursuit of Death

Pursuit of Death

A Poem by dementedreality

I crave the great unknown that is death
From moment to moment I as I create myself pass away into oblivion
In that oblivion I find that I am still aware
In the nothing that ensues I am still aware
Still I wonder when death will come for me
As I wait with my arms stretched out
Ready to embrace the unknown change that provokes my curiosity
One day Death will come to give me a loving embrace
So I wait with my arms wide open
Curious and desireful I await Death's company
I am patiently living and embracing life as my lover
My thoughts stray to the embrace of death
I will not leave my lover
Instead I will wait for Life to leave me
So I may embrace Death

Interesting piece... I was particularly polarized where you drew the relationship between the narrator, life, and death. Initially, I felt death was desired as a means to an end, as if life was valueless to the narrator, but the line, "I am patiently living and embracing life as my lover," really elevate the piece and convoys the narrator does in fact value life as something precious. Well worth the read, pen on!

My main problem with death is that you don't get to take a test drive.
