What is love?

What is love?

A Poem by dementedreality

The knight dons their armor to protect them from harm.
The armor dons the knight giving it identity.
The knight forgets what they were before the weight.
The armor rusted and worn has outlived it's purpose.
The knight looks upon their armored self in their mirrored shield.
The armor digs into the knight's flesh which is being worn?
The knight sees the holes in their flesh where the armor has dug in.
The armor holds the knight tight as though to say they love the knight.
The knight forgets who they were without the holes.
The armor has not seen battle in many a day, but remembers it clear as day.
The knight loves the armor as though it were itself.
The armor holds onto it's purpose protecting from battles of the past.
Who can love the knight when all they see is the armor?
Only the knight can love themselves for what they are, would they only let down their armor.
