A Painful Memory

A Painful Memory

A Poem by Charissa N. Wilkinson

A painful memory
of the days before
has opened my mind
and unlocked the door

My head is heavy
My heart burns with pain
A friendship is lost
My tears fall like rain

I can't yet control
this pain in my heart
it dwells there inside
and tears me apart

A painful memory
that is trapped in my head
is killing me swiftly
and now, I am dead
