There's writers block in my urethra

I've not been around the WC lately so I gotta dust my skills off

I tried to write some fancy verse 

I couldn't find a rhyme 

I threw my meter at the cat 

So now I'm out of time 

My words they disappeared on me 

Up in a puff of smoke 

I screw around with this keyboard 

and then I start to choke 

I swear I wrote this all before

The lines all look the same 

How many rhymes can I commit 

and keep my muse aflame 

And though I'm good at doing this 

This rhyming writing shtick

It doesn't feed that old bulldog 

when past due bills are thick 

The world won't hold her baited breath 

for my ingenious rhyme 

I had to go to work today

Where I earned every dime 

Perhaps I'm having writers block 

Perhaps I'm getting bored

No matter how you slice it up 

My skills can't be ignored 

So now I wrote another Rhyme 

to get back in the swing 

I'll post it on the old cafe

Where I can reign as king

I believe our love for writing ebbs and flows. Maybe we get tired of our own words. I haven't been around much lately but I will tell you I sought you out on purpose today - because your voice is so different than my own and I find you refreshing to read amongst the sonnets and other fare here. Your poetry is "schtick", but I came here (it's been months) expecting some great BR poetry--all the injustices going on in the world?? Woman shot dead by an illegal alien, people hiding confidential emails, Planned Parenthood harvesting fetal organs for cashola?? Where's your smack email about that?? Alas...nothing...I understand you now ;-)

Nothing worse than this feeling of writers block. A feeling felt by me so many times already this year.

I'm in a bit of a writing slump myself, so I'm definitely identifying with this one today. I hate this feeling and often go looking for contest just to stimulate the brain and give it a jump-start. But force writes are never as satisfying as the ones that spew forth.
This gave me a bit of a chuckle, and I'm sure it was meant to, words like Shtick really do not show up in serious poetry. There's something about it that ruins the mood. Thanks for the smile today! Jaycee
