Midnight Message

Midnight Message

A Poem by Baby Ricochet
"

A few random thoughts before the weekly grind

"
A gecko's crawling up my wall
Chasing after roaches
I scratch my cat under her chin
My mouse pad she encroaches

My girlfriend's drifting off to sleep
I guess I'll join her soon
We have to go to work tomorrow
So we can't sleep till noon

The daily grind of peace time life
has it's precious moments
Civilian life's a constant strife
Takes lots of adjustments

Though I'm not the suicide type
I know why veterans crack
We were the s**t when we were there
We're nothing when we're back

No I'm not a suicide type
My motto's simple hymn
Hajji couldn't f*****g kill me
I'm not doing it for him

Oriental wisdom here where the catfish is one with his universe. Enjoyed the read.

To choose not to die, it to LIVE ! I liked this a lot BR especially the view into your world in the first two verses. Fine imagery - YA BIG SOFTIE !! Im kidding of course, but yeah, the message comes through loud and clear.

thank you Anto
Stream of consciousness, but with a message. It's sad that veterans are not given the respect they so deserve when they return from wars. They have to continue to fight....for themselves. Sometimes we have to hold onto the mundane in our lives in order to live another day. Poetry can help a person get through rough spots....I think that is what it does for you considering this poem. Honest emotions here. Lydi**

Good poem. You words emphasize how the small things in life clearly set our mood.

Wonderfully written, short but punchy on the struggle to adjust and the strength within to survive/win.

you're welcome
You've given us a window to see that you can't just pick up civilian life and have it fit perfectly. This one quietly punches the reader with your fortitude:

Hajji couldn't f*****g kill me
I'm not doing it for him

Beautifully spoken truth. Your work as always is flawless. You really should try and put a collection together and get published. Your work is always amazing!

its great that your not that suicide type, coming from your experience, your stronger than that. :)
"Civilian life's a constant strife" - yes, indeed, it takes a lot of adjustment, but as human as we are, we are capable to adjust to everything around us. Keep it up my friend, good to see you still fighting a good fight.

welcome, my friend. :)
I like it at parts i find the flow to be a little off , and i find the sort of correlation between verses is sometimes a little lost. But for the most part i am particuarly fond of this part it is an honest and slightly humourus piece that tells of your strength in the face of well the daily morality of life.
I particuarly like the adressing of almost saying you have the things that people desire in life, a house a girlfriend all these things and yet you still understand the daily struggle that is presented to human kind.
Interesting
