Gaza City

Gaza City

A Poem by Baby Ricochet
"

It's short

"
Under the rubble
A child lies murdered
For the sins of his father
For the land he died on
coveted by giants
defended by lunatics
a nation of refugees
caught in the middle
when bombs fell
on starving houses
full of children
with nowhere to go
but the grave

Author's Note

Baby Ricochet
Israel's had a very troubled history with the Palestinian people. The PLO, the intifada, (the uprising) HAMAS. We in the west have been taught it's always been the Palestinians who are to blame and Israel has a right to defend itself. Though that statement does hold a great deal of truth what we haven't been taught is Israel has been a brutal occupier of the Palestinian people and have been systematically beating them into submission for decades. Watching whats happening to Gaza now it would seem Israel is trying to eliminate HAMAS as a threat by killing every Palestinian in the city. Why this would seem an acceptable, though genocidal military strategy is HAMAS doesn't exist as a separate entity from the Palestinians and they are in fact one in the same. It's a difficult situation for Israel to say the least, but they are in large part responsible for it. No one likes getting their land taken away then beaten into the ground when they resist their occupiers. Israel needs another strategy besides slaughtering civilians in the name of security and owing to Israel's military strength, and strangle hold on the Palestinians, the ball's in their court.

I'm glad to see you're still fighting. Religion and politics are one and the same today. The jews were persecuted not so long ago and oh how the times have changed. I have no sympathy anymore for the jewish peoples, they've forfeited the right to my respect.
Good write my friend.

And your review is totally right, people there 50 years ago, held their children to save them from being killed, told their kids that wont take more than a week, and 50 years have passed since that day, those people died and their little kids are shattered here and there ,waiting for that week to end, but it still didnt, then many things have been said about Palstines like they are "terrorists" but sorry, which terrorist fights to get him OWN land back??? which terrorist gives away all of what he have just to protect his land? if they were any thing close to be terrorist they will at least not care for that land and let it burn... But they will be freed one day, and Isreal will be vanished from this wold, just because it is no theres. they dont belong there..
this review might conrtadict with manys, since we are multi-cultured over here, but i think we are free to express our opnion.. but still i guess now this thing is nothing an OPNION.. kids are killed. like really killed !!!!!!.. little ones who have nothing to say ,they dont even know what war is.. they done know what is happining over there. they are jusst victims..
Pray For Gaza.. Pray for their freedom and they will get it one day.. ONE DAY THEY WILL BE FREE,..FOREVER FREE..
thank you for this wonderful sight.. i loved this.. i loved what you said.. thank you

Most of them do but when the rounds start flying all bets are off.
Another one that tears me apart, but it's necessary to write. Only you can do.
I admire it.

It makes me open my eyes, and think,
It is the truth.

Thank you for being the poet, that you are, my friend.

Than you Elisa
Yes, the strategy is not one that leads to anywhere but death and more anger and terrorism in the name of anti-war -- no one wants to back down, no one wants to turn the tide. This is a truthful, angry poem, as it should be. One thing, I would say sins of the father, or his father.

Thank you KL and I will change it
Although this has a truth to it and is a right and passionate appeal, and your summary is largely sound, it takes no account of how the Jews, persecuted for centuries, arrived in Palestine. To try to simplify the problem is to ignore history and the position both the Jews and the Palestinians were placed in by the imperialist nations. All over the world people are still picking up the pieces created by the intrusion of conquering nations. Nowhere is it right to take innocent lives.

Very well stated. Thank you John. I appreciate your input.
For all the belief that Israel is the one attacked and defending, I see it completely different, I have no words except what they are doing is nothing short of calculated murder...my heart is broken by it all, every day I send out peace and light to those who need it, I only hope it reaches some, if not all x

Israel has to stop killing Palestinians in the name of security and lift the blockade on Gaza.

Yes...agree...
I'm very much touched with this poem and even with this ongoing attach by Israel.

I beg from humanism please stop being so cruel for piece of land which will not go with you.

Stop being stupid and be human first.

Thanks Baby R for sharing this with me :)
