Tricks and ashes

Tricks and ashes

A Poem by Baby Ricochet

I should leave right now
Got just enough gas to go
And money for the bridge
but I can't leave you like that
Even though I want to
You've been broken
By your father's fists
By bad choices
By cruel lovers
and by the pipe
that keeps you here
in a world of tricks and ashes
Scattered on stained sheets
of semen and blood
Your lungs are coffee black
Your youth has withered away
You're the skin of rotting remains
Who doesn't know to pass away

Well, this kind of pained me for quite a reason. Left me pondering about certain things. I like it when an author makes a good connection with his readers. There's this deep pain flowing throughout your words and descriptions. Great work. I personally enjoyed this. :)

I relate to this poem on so many levels it almost brings me to tears. I agree with Troy H. when he says that loving some people is almost punishment. It really can be. But even harder is remembering that we have to love ourselves enough to let them go so we don't fall with them. Touching piece.

An adventurous spirit anchored by the pleas of another spirit exhausted and tired of running, and I like the way you intentionally kept the person anchoring your spirit vague, for it could be a lover or a parent or a friend or anyone.. Well expressed.

Did you go? The poetry was direct and honest. Sometime we need to run like hell and hope for a better place. Nice ending to the excellent poetry.

Eventually I did. Thanks Coyote
The love we hold for some is so hard to let go. Its almost punishment.

That's for sure. Thanks Troy
It is seldom hard to care about someone the more you come to know them ...and so very, very hard to stop and even let go.

Yes it is. Thank you Chris
oh man, this is a stinger...and so beautifully expressed...i can't leave you, and you don't know enough to leave us...your life has pretty much made you dead already...

i feel for both speaker and the one spoken about here...heavily.

This is so painful, and real, and I see both the anger and the pity, and the sadness, and the empathy all at once. One of your best, for sure, for its shear emotional impact.
