Watch our Nation Burn

Watch our Nation Burn

A Poem by Baby Ricochet

They view the world through rifle sites
complicit in their lies
Rigging the next election race
when gold falls from their skies
Hysterics and conspiracies
Parades of lunatics
Placating to the ignorant
Yellow press fanatics
Sucking billions from the coffers
Tax haven unfair trade
Double digit interest rates
Where con men have it made
Deals and whispers in the chamber
A crime that's never seen
Snatching candy from a nation
destroying all our dreams
Decisions made in higher courts
by unelected men
A principled democracy
subverted once again
Send our work to other nations
Denied a living wage
left to toil in obscurity
A new world order slave
The game is rigged against us
A point of no return
We can sit by the Potomac
and watch our nation burn

Baby Ricochet
For those who were paying attention you know the tea party inspired "operation American spring" was an epic fail. As much as I knew it would be even I was surprised by how bad their turnout was. Despite my opinion of the Tea party to be a pack of rubes funded by the Koch brothers to further their own insanely far right agenda I found operation American spring's total failure to be disappointing. Even our far right crazies can't be bothered to rally anymore. We the people suffer from apathy of the worst sort and I believe nothing short of a Revolution is going to change the direction this Nation's been heading since Reagan was in office. A nation of concentrated wealth, unlimited corporate control and a massive underclass dimmed down by misinformation and trite entertainment. The "bread and circus'' of the 21st century

Yes, it seems hopeless. You know the story of boiling a frog? That's what's happening in this country. Slowly the heat is being turned up on us, so slowly no one jumps out of the pan. Before long we'll be cooked before we know it.

Big Government is just as bad as Big Business. Both need to go, but I fear you are right, nothing short of a revolution will change things and people are far more interested in who's winning the NBA Championship or who's racing this Sunday or who Kim Kadashian is screwing now.

All we can do is keep yelling brother. And hope one day enough of us yell loud enough to be heard.

Excellent explanation for the political status of our country and it truly is unfortunate that such worldwide manipulation is allowed, and I feel part of it is because many of us (citizens) are content in where we are, but we shouldn't be. The cracks in this society are only going to get deeper with time, and we should strike at the issue while it is still in its relative infancy.

Keep up with the pieces, Baby, you speak the truth stunningly and effectively.

This is where you shine. I would call it "activist observational poetry" maybe? Your scathing commentaries are appealing to anyone who has any sense of empathy and humanity.
