Post Generation X

Post Generation X

A Poem by Baby Ricochet
"

My generation. So to speak

"
I was born in nineteen eighty
A birthday kind of hex
My pinnacle is cynical
Post generation X

I was Ronald Reagan's love child
Born in a cabbage patch
A Grand Theft Auto Legacy
My key was in the latch

Instant access pornographic
The moonwalk slid on by
Berlin wall Disintegration
When space junk lit the sky

Madonna Manson Flava Flav
Explicit in content
Acquitted OJ Rodney verdicts
Justice was circumvent

 Intern's smearing semen stains
A minstrel lost his head
Shotgun automatic weapons
When Columbine ran red

Elect a privileged simpleton
Flying the terror skies
Concrete and steel disintegrate
Allah's extremists rise

Tweeting Facebook global village
I've never met my friends
Spyware information data
tracking how we spend

The world that we inherited
A swindlers debut
Exploitation of the many
to benefit the few

Carbon monoxide crack pipe dreams
The climate change complex
The Wal Mart peasant under class
Post generation X

Author's Note

Baby Ricochet
"When space junk lit the sky" Is a reference to the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster.
"A minstrel lost his head" is a reference to Kirk Cobain's Suicide. The rest of the poem is gravy.

Yep - I got each reference... I was a HS senior when the Challenger exploded... I'll never forget it. Your generation seems to have gotten lost in all that. A worthy rant, as always!

This is excellent Baby, I love it when you rant so brazenly, intense energy in your every word, and I can relate to much of it....

"i never met my friends"----"born in a cabbage patch"

you are the best at rants...but yes, your generation born in 1980, you have captured all of it so well.

i keep thinking soon i will be relegated to being a greeter at Wal-Mart.

this is so good...i was watching it as it happened, The challenger---we were watching it in a tv lounge in the student center at SIU...and it just happened...we all sat there in absolute shock.
