That's Entertainment

That's Entertainment

A Poem by Baby Ricochet

My TV has a thousand channels
My PC's endless streams
My phone is full of images
Communication beams

With advertisements everywhere
Bullshit disguised as news
Phony reality television
So are we not amused

We can watch the Kardashians
throw around their money
Change the channel to some redneck
wrestling a monkey

That's American entertainment
Denominator lowest
Mostly all dimmed down to retard
For those who are the slowest

They should make a reality show
about the price of war
They could call it Real Survivors
Deployments of the Corps

The ratings would be terrible
It wouldn't last a season
With way to much reality
Without a rhyme or reason

No rich b***h to be jealous of
No pushy dance hall moms
Just young men far away from home
and civilians hit by bombs

It wouldn't be entertaining
More like real depressing
Lets just watch the crap they show us
Maybe that's the blessing

You are welcome .
On the money baby. So sad, but do I feel for those, no! What I do feel is for the men and women fighting for us. To those, I do wonder if it's not for some other pupose we porobaly already know. LOVE this. Perfectly rhymed. Blessing in disquise, ha.

I shouldn't bash reality TV I have a friend who appears on one, other than that, you're pretty on the money, as always you make a valid point and smack us over the head with it.

yes that would be so depressing if they brought that on T.V, perhaps for the lovers of poetry they could bring entertaining stuff for poets like upcoming gigs and ensure they reward the best poet by flushing their piece of poetry on every t.v station and saying who has written that, you know that would make you a celeb for a day...

That would be cool.
Clever write as always, peppered with wise words and reality. Your poetry always entertains, instructs, and inspires. Keep it up!

That's the irony of it. We hate it but go on wanting more. A great comment with just the right amount of spice!

You make so many good points, but I like to think there is a happy inbetween :)
Maybe that's ignorant of me but anyway the I really enjoyed the rhythm and the humour, even if someone calls you judgmental I wouldn't care because I am too.

I think the fourth Stanza was my favourite, the whole thing flows perfectly and I suppose it suggests a sense of optimism, even if by ignorance. Maybe you're making an ironic statement but wither way it works,

I saw Death Valley. My unit was responsible for the clean-up of bodies and destroyed military equipment. Real people don't want to see the result of war. Look at Boston. This was a standard landmine. I don't watch television except for a movie on a rare day. I can go to downtown Detroit. Some parts look like a war zone. I agree. Kids watch too much TV. Thank you for you thoughts on a important topic.

Most of the shows/ popular songs are pretty empty which is why I am honestly glad I don't own a television or listen to popular music often. They don't want us to be educated about things that actually matter. Amazing write and I agree one hundred percent.
