*POG: People other than grunts. USMC acronym for anyone not a Marine in a combat unit.

Gun right nuts shoot off their mouths 

for more guns and ammo 

To hear them talk you'd think this was 

the f*****g Alamo 

First they hand out free health care

and then they wed the gays

Obama's coming for our guns

in just a couple days

It's a communist conspiracy 

cooked up by terrorists

They voted their head Muslim in 

To force their own interests

We need automatic weapons 

so we protect our rights

Hand them out like girl scout cookies

So we feel safe at night 

Lets arm our children to the teeth 

So violence disappears

School shootings will drop to zero

In just a couple years

Maybe if they saw what bullets

did to human bodies

They'd think twice before they shot 

their bullshit off so loudly 

Twas a time I used these weapons 

When I was in the Corps

These days I'm just a peace time pog*

Don't need them anymore 

Weapons designed for firefights

Not meant for hunting duck

Blast Daffy with an M16

You won't be left with much 

You know our founding fathers didn't

see these weapons coming 

For if they did and had much sense

They would all start running 

You really think assault rifles

will solve our violent crime

Trust me when I tell you pookey

The murder rate will climb 

I was trained to use these weapons 

I know what they can do 

And you won't have a f*****g prayer

if they get turned on you

Folks not trained to fight in combat

with automatic weapons 

Bystanders blood will flood the streets

That's what's gonna happen

If you're not properly trained to use an automatic weapon (that means properly trained in defending against someone using an automatic weapon) and you instantly grow a pair of balls touching one, someone's going to end up dead and it might just be you. Trust me on that one dearheart.

As a Brit i find your gun laws quite extraordinary and scary. Each time someone writes about the ease of keeping a gun in the home i truly shudder yet feel i must read and try to understand. I have two dogs, have security lights, door chains and window locks, surely that's enough for most people. How would some if not all people feel if they did actually fire and kill, it can happen, training or not . Could the shooter/killer live with it? Not being awkward, truly wanting to know how things are dealt with.

I try to tell people that. They call me a bleeding heart. *shrugs* I've grown up with guns, know what they can do though I've never turned one on another human.

Yet, the police got storm trooper units. I don't care what arsenal someone has in their home, the guns will just be an excuse to get killed by trained killing units if it ever comes to that. Better to save money for a damn good lawyer and just surrender then suetheir asses.

as for the poem, yeah, I totally agree with the sentiment, I think we should be able to protect ourselves but automatic weapon is excess and in the wrong hands , a teens persay, a whole school is in danger.

I always wanted to own a rifle in case of a burglary or an attempted murder. Or maybe a German Shepherd: awesome, loyal, lovable dogs that shall defend you to the death. With crime rates drastically increasing, you never know when danger lurks behind your door. I liked this write, mainly for the honesty. There sure are a lot of school shootings and murders, and obviously they weren't as existent back then. With proper training and morality, I'm sure people would be able to defend themselves when danger strikes. However, I would like to point something out: not everyone has a good morality, and I do believe that someone will still use this right of defense for a bad cause. It's a shame, really.
Anyhow, I apologize for the long speech. This was a great write, and thanks for sharing.

A pump action 12 gauge shot gun is your best bet for self defense in the home. You don't have to aim it at close range, it makes a distict sound when you c**k it and it's very intimidating staring into that 12 gauge barrel knowing it'll take your head clean off. The best weapon is the one that's so intimidating you never have to use it

Guns have always scared the hell out of me. I told myself I would never own one - until someone broke into my home in the middle of the night. Now it is safely tucked in a drawer...waiting...but you are absolutely right - the moment I learned how to shoot it - I was no longer afraid - I wouldn't go as far as to say I grew a pair of balls (but maybe tiny ones...lol).

There is so much truth to your words...A gun in the wrong hands is a scary, scary thought.

It's good to be able to defend yourself but you don't need a fully automatic M4 with an attached grenade launcher and red dot site to do it with. Go talk to a few folks at a gun show. Again, you speak the truth, and I couldn't agree more. I grew up with guns and hunting, and when I went to the woods, I carried either a single shot .22 rifle or my grandfather's old 12 gauge-- also a single shot. Because of the dangers military grade weaponry presents to the civilian world, I just don't understand why good folks can't see the inherent problem. I understand that boys want their toys, but they just really don't need weapons that were designed for the battlefield.

The NRA have a vested interest in no gun control because of weapons manufacturers. America makes everything from .22 caliber starter pistols to ballistic missiles and has lots of eager customers with deep pockets in the middle east, Asia and Europe no to mention the pentagon. It's all about private enterprise so what's a few school yard massacres or drive bys in the hood when billions are being made selling US made quality weapons.
