The Great WC Account Scare

For those of you who missed it the WC went bat s**t crazy for a few minutes today

There was a panic on the WC

We lost all our accounts

They fell into some cyber hole

and wouldn't come back out 

The PM's they flew back and forth 

Dear God what's going on 

Now all our work has disappeared 

No backup it's all gone 

With sweaty palms and bulging veins 

the panicked writers stared 

into their blank computer screens 

for work that wasn't there 

Then came the WC miracle 

Our work just reappeared 

It was as if nothing happened

That s**t was freaky weird 

I don't know what really happened 

All I got is theories 

A debugging system ran Amok 

Some other kind of query 

Cyberspace is the wild west

anything can happen 

We trust the work we sweat over

To some weird contraption 

Those of us who witnessed chaos

survived to tell this tale 

Make sure you have your work backed up 

If there's an epic fail

I tell all writers. Back-up all your work. Till two years ago. I wrote in journals first. Kept raw copies of things that I wrote. Good to back-up your work in three places. With the computer. Few have printed copies of all their work. We will never know when the internet can be locked out. Thank you for sharing the story of the bug on W.C.

All my updated works are here in wc, I have back up, but that is not recent... the most recent updated versions of my works are all here in wc. I am too lazy to back it all up LOL - worth two years of work to eb transfered, now that takes time.lol... anyways. Yesterday was another scare, but in all fact I was worried a bit not that we will lost our works because I think I know they have a bit of back-up of everything here, but worried about wc's system because our little community might be hacked or something.

It was a bit scary to think about it, we are just a small community, who would do such thing. It's a free sharing website that creates a very good writing community. All we have here is words, and it will be a shame if the site will be put down, we have grown to love this site despite all its shortcomings sometimes, but that's just minor stuff.

~ indeed, back to normal. Maybe because they have back up in everything... For a time yesterday, wc was really silent. Yeah, we can only think its a bug, for we really don't know what happened. I was on yesterday and suddenly reviews starting to disappears... even reviews were not saved.

All in all, wc becomes a big part of my understanding of life in outside world and the life within. I hate to have lost something this good.

Great rhyming and rhythm in this one! I know I freaked when all my poetry was off the site yesterday, but I did have it on disc here. Still, I hated to see it go. Then my friend list had vanished and never did return. Today for a few hours, ALL reviews were missing, but they returned too. Never know what to expect on the internet, that's for sure. Ha! A delightful read. That too gave me quite a scare! The internet is indeed the wild west, and we must always be careful when we wander around. Great job! I'll make sure to back up my files twice! :D

I noticed it last night, BR. Every review had disappeared, not just mine but everyone's. The work never worries me because I save it on hard drive before I even post, but to lose all those reviews, that was a freaky moment. Just goes to show though, never trust the Internet.
