Used to be ignorance was bliss

Well now it's dangerous

Idiots can get TV shows 

and spew without basis 

Pundits get their own "news' shows

Real facts though they may lack 

Writing books that sell numbers 

So now their bullshit's fact 

Spinning lies like no tomorrow 

When fiction becomes fact 

Discrediting intelligence 

When science gets attacked

The book of Genesis is real 

and global warming's fake

simple answers simple people 

with way to much at stake 

We're heading for catastrophe 

Biblical proportions 

with seven billion souls on earth 

and an ever warming ocean 

We suck this rock for everything

and think it's all okay 

We f**k tomorrow's children

and rape them for today 

Yeah everyone is in on this 

because we don't do s**t 

Just f**k and suck and populate 

So our children deal with it 

You think this is f*****g funny

I hope I'm dead by then 

No liberal conspiracy

No hope at childhood's end 

The war on the environment 

is a war on intellect 

Our heads are so far up our a*s

After years of research into global warming predicting weather extremes just like the arctic weather pattern moving over north America while the frozen tundra thaws FOX news pundits are stating because it's been so cold global warming is a hoax. Really?These are the same assholes who blamed the Iraqis for all the violence when the occupation went wrong and claim Obama is everything from a terrorist to a socialist to a communist. Personally I find Obama to be a disappointment on several points but he's far from a socialist. As long as we keep mistaking opinion and entertainment for facts were going to keep being duped by these people so wake the fuck up America and smell the planet warming up

It's not just FOX, it's all the major news networks spinning away one direction or the other. Hard to know what is true, what is not. I just keep going with my gut. As for Global Warming, I don't think some people will ever admit to it even when Louisiana and Florida are under water.

Relying on science means that I rely on the founded 2nd Law of Thermodynamics: "All things lead towards entropy." Which means that all things will decay. It is evident in nature. I find that this transcends beyond the physical properties of nature and into social, economic, spiritual concepts as well. We are creatures of decay and thus produce decay. Therefor it is absolutely no surprise me that we would be spiraling out of control.

You hit this dead on. We may not be able to fight decay fully, but we sure as hell can help prevent it or slow it down by learning how to become good stewards of our planet. Whether you choose to believe facts, sciences, religion, you cannot deny that there is an issue that needs to be conquered. Ignorance needs to be fought, but we also need to come to terms with the fact, as well, that the world will one day die.

OMG- I am so passionate about this problem I teach about Global Warming to my 4th graders even though it's not part of our curriculum. There have been other times where whether it be the bible or just stupidity (hello Darwin- Scopes Trial where teachers could only teach creationism -defense was represented by the famous agnostic Clarence Darrow) that people have outright rejected the science or ignored its existence. Not only do we have these pseudo pundits who spew this stupidity we've got big corporations manufacturing in the poorest countries who have no pollution laws so they can add their tons of poison into the air while the industrial world has summits on how they can help Global Warming by cutting back pollution in their own countries. The war on the environment is a war on the poorest of the world...they will feel it first. As I tell my kids the North Pole is melting, where's Santa gonna live, your house? Their 4th graders most of them don't believe anymore but how are they going to explain that to future little kids- which I know isn't the greatest tragedy but I mean really. If it suits your pocketbook, your need to ignore the rest of the world, sometimes your politics or religions get over it and take a whiff of the air in Beijing. Sorry, I tried not to rant but your poem is spot on and scary as hell and you explained it expertly!
