Where Was God in That

Where Was God in That

A Poem by Baby Ricochet
"

Some of you aren't going to like this.

"
I've heard the southern preacher lie
to his congregation
I fought the Imam's followers
Sent them to damnation
The priest who touches little boys
gets swept under the mat
The only thing I wonder is
Where was God in that

Jews were Yahweh's chosen people
The tribe he favored most
The diaspora and holocaust
God's chosen paid the cost
They finally got their promised land
In Israel's caveat
The one thing I keep asking is
Where was God in that

The fundamentalist mind set
thrives on stupidity
Trying to make pseudoscience
out of mythology
Public school creationism
Kids dumber than doormats
The only thing I wanna know is
Where was God in that

We fought against the Jihadis
Put bullets in their head
Every Marine a rifleman
We shot their asses dead
We killed a generation off
Genocidal bureaucrats
The toxic riddle dogging me
Where was God in that

Twisted scripture for agendas
Churned out of basic greed
Xenophobic tribe rivalries
Based on a primal need
To kill off those who threaten us
Our neighbors we begat
I'll shout it from the mountaintop
Where was God in that
The day I shed this mortal coil
I pray to God I find
Whatever I was looking for
Within my short lifetime
or just a simple answer to
why life has so much crap
Hey Yahweh bro I wanna know
Where was God in that

The old preacher asked the Sunday school class what faith was. A boy raised his hand and said "I know what Faith is preacher. Faith is believing in what you know ain't true."

Human beings created God because it was necessary to have a god. THey created Him in their own image, because they didn't know anything else. This still doesn't answer any questions.

I agree. Thank you Marie
I think we all have that question in our head, but will we ever get to an answer? I dunno, maybe. Loved this one, BR!

God was at home in the babies crib, or the dogs eyes when you came home, and was in the free will to do all those sick hurtful things that black plagues do, like all germs do, in a petri dish. People keep thinking god is a "man" with superhuman powers that they can point a finger at when the germs take over, they cant seem to shake that age old description of conscious thought of self, that aside, I actually love this poem baby, it truly is amazing work.

I believe in god, because some of us need something to cling to. but I don't believe in wolfs in sheep skin pastures and cramming religion down peoples throats. I don't go to church or anything, and have wondered the same thing you wrote about. but I just figure there has to be a reason for it all.

I think we all wonder where god is sometimes when we see the atrocities committed in his name.I think people use god sometimes to justify their wicked deeds.Doing bad all the while quoting their various scriptures.I love your tell it as it is attitude it rocks.:)

You are welcome:)
That's a great line. Faith is elusive and it most certainly does not fit withing logic. It makes us wonder sometimes if they did throw us out of paradise then it was straight to hell that they sent us. You ask hard questions and there really aren't any answers that will make any sense. When you live it you know faith is like that brass ring on the carousel, everyone wants it but it's so damn hard to grasp.

Thank you Gaurav. Nice guns
We have so many questions as human, bad things happen to us and we cant help but wonder if God is there with us, the only thing we should do is keep the faith and believe even if we dont see him that he understands and knows our pain and the heartaches will eventually end, nothing lasts forever

some may not like this, that's a fact. but there is so much truth in this...so many organized religions are so hypocritical...and what exactly does "Chosen" mean..each religion thinks its own people are the chosen..

but i think we are all the chosen...and we are equally loved by God..and i am not sure he enjoys being used by those who preach his words and then do so many things that he would sadly shake his head at seeing...

one day we might understand that we are all the same...just humans...no one human better than another..or more holy than another.

parts of this really angered me...but not at the poet...instead at those he is writing about...

a piece that needs to be read and thought about.

Good insight Jacob. Thank you
Interesting, most persons choose to look the other way and that is why those events keep repeating themselves. Is similar to put the other cheek and let them do it again, and I totally disagree with that. I say stand up and let your voice heard.
