I wrote this for someone's stupid contest

Just letting off some steam

Great poetry is depressing
That's why my poems suck
I'm either pissed off or funny
So my a*s is outta luck

I wrote this for some contest
I'm never gonna win
Maybe if I blow the judges
That'll give me an in

It's called depressing poetry
For verses oh so sad
I'll enter their f*****g contest
and make the judges mad

My girlfriend's real pissed off at me
So she's not putting out
If that's not enough to bring ya down
What else have I got

Ya know this Monday's Veterans day
and I'm a bloody Veteran
We were deployed to lovely Iraq
When they went sectarian

Don't worry pookey I'll spare details
Maybe another time
If that's not enough to be depressing
This is my last rhyme

If we spent all day thinking about depressing things, nothing would ever get done and that would really be depressing! I enjoy coming to your pages because of your humorous bent. Sometimes I wonder what the function of the contests is on this site anyways. Unless you really care you'll never find out who the winners are unless, unlikely as it may seem, you win, or you make the effort to go back to look. Many times a winner is not chosen at all - and then all that time looking back is wasted. Kind of strange if you ask me. Another site I belonged to actually published all winners on the site home page. Thanks for another fine rant, BR. I, and many others, have enjoyed reading it and that's what really counts!
