A pack of lies

A pack of lies

A Poem by Baby Ricochet
"

I've been in one of my moods lately

"

We were sent to defend a lie
that doesn't matter now
With the past long dead and buried
deep in the hallowed ground

We're nothing but old war stories
of blood soaked memories
Of fire fights and flash air strikes
and mortar batteries

You wanna hear a war story
The one tale I can tell
The day I killed my first hajji
My soul went straight to hell

The one thing you need to know
You have to understand
Those we voted into power
Our blood is on their hands

The architects of a nightmare
For me will never end
Was nothing but a pack of lies
We were sent to defend

The tragedy of that lie lives on in each and every one who was involved on the ground. It pisses me off and I wasn't even there. I cannot imagine the loss, heartache and angst that has been left in its wake. All I can do is thank all of you for when you were there you were defending us back home with your lives, lie or not.

A very sad poem, BR. I agree that the war you fought was not one we should ever have been in. You and all the other young men who served performed valiantly and we are all in your debt for your bravery and sacrifices.

the architects of a nightmare. Gone are the days when the mighty charged the gates with the rabble. Now the "mighty' sit in an office and never feel the fire...

This is the real story, as only you can tell it, Mark. I agree wholeheartedly, and again, I thank you - for your service, and for your candor...

There is no free lunch ...hell, NOTHING is ever free. The story was told, the media hyped it, supported it, The politicos reinforced it, the media carried even more... and the body bags got shipped at our expense. And the beginning the media hyped it, government applauded it...then came the time for the media to change their slant...and down came the whole house of cards... but the players still remained the same. No foul, no fault, no blame... just the dead and broken scattered til the next "story" waiting to be told. Notice I didn't once say a lie was told... partial truths and perceptions supplied by "spinners" as always ...and the media making ratings and deadlines.

Manufactured news and opinions... slanted polls where the makers get the preselected answers... predetermined slants and prejudice. And whoever heard of follow-up anyway?
